Paul Grist (born September 9, 1960) is a British comic book creator known for his hard-boiled police series “Kane” and his unorthodox superhero series “Jack Staff.”
Biography
Paul Grist was born in Sheffield, England. He began his career in the 1980s, contributing to publications by DC Thomson & Co. Ltd, Fleetway, and Trident Comics. He is best known for creating “Kane” and “Jack Staff,” both of which were initially published under his own company, Dancing Elephant Press, before moving to Image Comics.
Grist’s distinctive art style features heavy use of shadow and inventive layouts, while his writing often includes sudden cuts between events occurring in different time periods. Despite the challenges in following his narrative structures, Grist provides subtle visual clues to guide readers through his stories.
